Privacy policy.Plain and short.

In short
- No account, no sign-up. We never ask for your name or email.
- What you record in Hindsight stays on your phone. We never receive it.
- The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. To do that, Google collects device data such as your advertising ID and IP address. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first.
Permissions and why they're needed
- Camera
- To show the delayed feed. Frames stay in memory and are discarded as the delay moves on.
- Microphone
- Optional, for delayed audio and for sound in recordings.
- Vibration
- Light haptic feedback on controls.
- Internet & network state
- To load and show ads. The app's own features don't need a connection.
- Advertising ID
- Used by Google AdMob to measure ads and, if you allow it, to personalise them. You can reset or delete it in Android settings.
You can revoke camera, microphone, location and notification access in Android settings. Only the features that need it stop working.
What is stored on your device
- Recordings you choose to save (in Movies/Hindsight)
- Your delay and camera preferences
This data lives in the app's own storage on your phone. We have no copy of it and no way to access it. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it deletes it.
Your recordings and data
The camera feed and your recordings are never uploaded. Recordings you choose to save go to Movies/Hindsight on your phone, where your gallery and other apps with media access can see them.
Advertising
Hindsight shows ads served by Google AdMob, operated by Google. When an ad loads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects and sends to Google:
- Your device's advertising ID
- Your IP address, from which an approximate location can be derived
- Device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version
- How you interact with ads, such as views and taps, and diagnostic data about ad performance
Google uses this to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them, prevent fraud and, only where you allow it, personalise them. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Nothing you record in the app is passed to the ad network: no runs, workouts, videos, audio or precise location.
We (Lapmark) do not receive personal data from AdMob. We only see aggregate reports, such as how many ads were shown and in which countries.
Your choices
- Consent. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, the app asks for consent before any personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy option in the app's settings.
- Advertising ID. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads. With the ID deleted, ads are no longer personalised.
- Your recordings. Clear the app's data or uninstall it to delete everything stored on the device.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If a future version changes any of this, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
